The Great Swamp Conservancy, Inc. is partnering with the Shane Pinard Future Fisherman’s Foundation to bring a FREE Kid’s Fishing Program on Saturday, August 19th from 11am-1pm at GSC’s Simpsons Park pond.
Shane Pinard was an avid fisherman who developed a passion for the sport at a young age. He encouraged others, especially the youth, into the fishing community by offering his knowledge and experience at any chance. Since Shane’s passing, the foundation's intention is to build programs that will afford others the opportunities to explore fishing in hopes of sparking new, passionate fishing enthusiasts, just like Shane wanted.
The Free Kids Fishing Program on August 19th, will provide instruction on everything beginners need to know to feel comfortable around the water with a pole in hand. You’re welcome to bring your own equipment otherwise equipment will be provided for those who need it. GSC’s Simpson Park is located ⅛ mile south from our main grounds on Pine Ridge Rd. and N Main St in Canastota (just around the bend). There is a turn-in entry on the left as you round the corner, heading south on N Main St. Parking will be in Simpson Park. Please do not park on N Main St. We hope to see you!
